Meet Lach – Your Guide at Dads’ Consultancy

A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Lachezar Lazarov, but please feel free to call me Lach. If you’re a dad facing the often confusing and stressful process of sorting out arrangements for your children, you’re in the right place.

At Dads’ Consultancy, my mission is to provide you with clear, practical support and expert guidance every step of the way.

My Journey: From Law to Supporting Families Directly

My path to helping fathers like you has been a unique one. I started by earning a Law degree in English Law, which included a focus on Family Law. However, I quickly realised that my true passion wasn’t just in understanding the law, but in directly supporting children and families through challenging times.

So, instead of becoming a solicitor, I made a dedicated shift and became a qualified Social Worker. To deepen my expertise, I completed a Master’s degree (MA) in Social Work. I then achieved an Advanced MA specialising in Social Work with Children and Families, which included specific training on effectively working with men and fathers within family settings.

Real-World Experience You Can Count On

My qualifications are backed by extensive hands-on experience. This includes valuable time spent working with CAFCASS (the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service – the people who advise the family courts on what’s safe for children and in their best interests).

I also dedicated nine years to working directly within Children’s Services. During this time, I passionately advocated for better engagement with fathers, acting as a ‘Dads’ Champion’ to promote improved practices among social work professionals in supporting fathers’ crucial involvement with their children.

What My Experience Means for You:

When you work with Dads’ Consultancy, you benefit from this firsthand knowledge and dedicated focus. In my career, I have:

Been an expert witness in family court: I’ve provided professional social work evidence in many cases, including those about child arrangements between parents (Private Law) and in more serious situations where social services are involved to protect children (Public Law / Care Proceedings). Critically, I have a strong track record of successfully supporting fathers through challenging care proceedings initiated by Children’s Services, helping them make necessary changes and ultimately keep their children safely within the family.

Written countless court reports: This includes many Section 7 reports (the detailed reports CAFCASS or social workers write for the court to help judges make decisions about children’s welfare) and other social work assessments. I know what information these reports need and how they are put together.

Handled CAFCASS Safeguarding Calls: I’ve conducted many of these crucial initial telephone interviews that CAFCASS carries out.

Carried out in-depth assessments: This includes parenting assessments, risk assessments, and general social work assessments to understand family situations and what support is needed to ensure children are safe and well-cared for.

Worked at the ‘front door’ of Children’s Services: This means I was part of the initial response team dealing with new referrals and concerns about children’s safety.

Advised other professionals: I’ve regularly provided guidance to schools, health professionals, and others working with children on how to best support families and safeguard children.

Collaborated closely with the police: I have extensive experience working with police services to protect children at risk, particularly those facing exploitation.

Sharing Knowledge: Training Future Social Workers

Alongside my direct work with families, I’m also a Practice Educator. This means I train and mentor student social workers and those who have newly qualified, helping them develop their skills. This role keeps me at the forefront of best practices in social work.

My Commitment to You

All this experience – from understanding the legal framework, to specialising in working with fathers, to knowing the ins and outs of CAFCASS and Children’s Services procedures, and championing dads’ roles – allows me to offer you practical, informed, and effective support.

I’m here to help you understand the process, prepare thoroughly for each step, and ensure your perspective as a dad is clearly and effectively presented, always with your child’s best interests at heart.
